not a very original post
Janet's running a guest post of mine on Friday, since she just started the school year and it's crazy with all her third-graders. It's a re-run of the story of meeting Barry Williams (aka Greg Brady), so it may be familiar to some of you old-timers. But, I still recommend that you visit Janet's blog because I really enjoy the questions she asks and the topics she posts about.
On another note, the best way to get me to do a meme is to time it for a night when I really want to get to bed early in order to blunt a potential cold. Plus, I figured that since I post about movies all the time, it might be interesting to mention another medium. Therefore, I pick up the torch from Fat Hairy Bastard (plus, it's a good excuse to type out fat.hairy.bastard.).
1. A book I've read more than once?
None
2. What book would I want on a desert island?
Kelly had the best answer with a survival guide for living on a desert island. I just can't top that.
3. A book that made me laugh?
I don't think I realized it before this, but I don't really read comedies. I guess The Devil Wears Prada and The Nanny Diaries made me snicker a few times. Caren's books, Carrie Pilby and Starting from Square One are pretty witty.
4. A book that made me cry?
I think I've bawled with a few Nicholas Sparks books. Gone With the Wind. The Pillars of the Earth. Five People You Meet in Heaven. The Time Traveler's Wife.
5. A book I wish I'd written?
Pride & Prejudice or Gone With the Wind.
6. A book I wish had never been written?
Anything that explains how Joe Schmo can build a bomb or fly a plane.
7. A book I'm currently reading?
Currently reading a tongue-in-cheek guide to surviving winter in Seattle (though I actally have already). Just finished A Small Murder in Lisbon for book club.
8. A book I've meant to read?
Anna Karenina has been on my night stand for a year. It will be the next one I read.
9. A book that changed my life?
Books don't quite affect me as much as movies, but I'd probably have to go with the Colleen McCullough Rome series because it got me into more serious books, instead of just "fun stuff."
The first time I remember feeling addicted to a book was reading a mystery series with a character named Trixie Belden. I think I was about nine or ten.
