About last night...
UPDATE: I have Internet so I can wish Miss Jen from Passion Knit a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Please go on over and drop her a line because she could really use some nice words right now. Not only did her father pass away three weeks ago, but she and her husband were burglarized late last week and the fuckers took just about everything they could pawn.
I may or may not have Internet access when I get home this evening to post again, due to the cable going out as a result of this happening about 100 feet away from my building at 1:30 a.m. last night. If you really want to see something cool, click on the "raw video of blazing fire" link.
And yes, the boys and I never heard the alarms or sirens, though we were repeatedly woken up from people going in and out of the building (I thought they were 4th of July late partiers). The smoke was so thick when I walked them this morning that it looked like fog -- I could hardly see. My building was not evacuated, which I assume is probably due to the wind direction, since they did with the houseboats that were further away.
On another note, this was last night's view of Lake Union about two hours before the fire. All those dots on the water are boats, which kind of reminded me of D-day looked like in Saving Private Ryan.
