Are we ready?

Some of you may be aware that there is a movie coming out this Friday called United 93, which is about the 9/11 flight that crashed in Pennsylvania.

There's quite a bit of controversy with this film, as many have said it's too soon. Even when I saw the preview, many people in the theatre started "booing," and the AMC Theatre chain in Manhattan stopped showing the preview all-together because of complaints.

Nicolas Cage is starring in a similiarly-themed film titled World Trade Center directed by Oliver Stone that's slated to come out this Fall. Based upon real-life events, Cage is playing a Port Authority officer that is in one of the towers when it collapses, after which various people try to save him and another officer before their air supply runs out.

I have to admit that part of me wonders if United 93 will fail because it was poorly executed more so than the theme. It will be interesting to see if Cage's film has more success with a star attached to it.
