And this makes sense...why?
Not sure how many of you heard this story, but last night, one of the WA-Canadian crossings was closed for a while. Why, you ask? Because a suspected murderer was heading toward the border to flee U.S. arrest and the unarmed guards walked off their post. Not that the guy ever showed up and waved a gun at them; it was just the warning the guy might head their way.Apparently, Canada does not currently provide their border patrol with weaponry, you know, to protect their country from those that are armed and dangerous, and they have the legal right to walk off the job if they feel endangered.
The story is here and what I especially admire is how their policy is to allow these people into their country...and then call the police because I'm sure they'll be easily tracked down at that point, right (esp. if no one is at their post)?
Thankfully, the U.S. is a little more protective about who comes our way.
